SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA --- The Jr. Coyotes are proud to announce the hiring of Dave Ellett as Head Coach of the 18U Midget Major team that will compete in the Tier 1 Elite League during the 2017-2018 season.

Ellett is an accomplished veteran in the world of hockey. His NHL career extended over 16 years, playing 1129 games for the Winnipeg Jets, Toronto Maple Leafs, New Jersey Devils, Boston Bruins and St. Louis Blues. He was drafted by the Winnipeg Jets in 1982 before winning the NCAA Championships at Bowling Green State University in 1984. Other notable achievements during his playing career include winning a silver medal with Team Canada at the 1989 World Championships and 2 NHL All-Star appearances.

Marc Fritsche, Director of Elite Travel Hockey explains the significance of Ellett's contributions to the program, "We are thrilled to have Dave lead our U18's this coming season.  Our players respect his knowledge of the game and the commitment required to compete at the highest level.  With Dave behind the bench we are confident the team will continue to thrive and make an impact at the Tier 1 level this season. He has great connections in the industry and will help our players advance to the next level."

Dave has been a member of the Jr. Coyotes coaching staff the past three seasons as assistant coach for the 16U AAA and 18U AAA teams, capturing state championships with both teams this past season.

Ellett is excited about building on that success when the season opens in September, "I am looking forward to working with the talented players on our roster this season. The Tier 1 Elite League has some strong teams with extremely skilled players competing across the U.S.  We will focus on player development on and off the ice to ensure we compete to the best of our ability and that our players receive the recognition they deserve."
