The Jr. Coyotes Elite program is proud to announce that 16U forward Matthew Knies has selected to play his NCAA college hockey at the University Of Minnesota.

Knies (2002) has played his entire youth hockey career for the Coyotes and has recently help lead his team to 3 consecutive USA Hockey National Championship appearances. Matthew played AAA hockey annually with a core group of standout 02- born Coyotes and was always among the top point-scorers each season. The Jr. Coyote standout will be the 2nd Arizona-born player to suit up for the Minnesota Golden Gophers, and will soon be joining former Coyote Nathan Burke (98) at the U Of MN- Minneapolis. Knies will follow in the footsteps to college hockey of his older brother Philip who currently plays with U of Miami Ohio – RedHawks.

Before heading to NCAA hockey in a  few years, Knies will be looking to continue his development path in the U.S.H.L junior hockey developmental league. (USHL 3rd round draft pick of the Tri-City Storm in 2018.)

The entire Jr. Coyotes program and staff congratulate Matthew Knies on his outstanding accomplishments and wish him the best with his promising hockey career.
