The CAHA Jr Coyotes 16U and 15O Midget AAA teams both claimed the ultimate prize at their Tier 1 Elite League Playoff Championship in Minnesota in mid February!

The Jr. Coyotes program is a member of the national Tier 1 Elite League which consists of 18 top programs from coast to coast.

Each year the League brings all teams at each division together in Blaine, MN for the playoff showdown in front of a jam-packed arena full of scouts.

The 15O team was first to claim the championship with a close 3-2 battle with the Cleveland Barons at the end of a grueling week of games. The 15O boys had to run through many top teams on their way to the championship with wins against the L.A. Jr. Kings, Chicago Fury, Colorado Thunderbirds, Buffalo Jr. Sabres and finally Cleveland. The group has come together very nicely with new coach Dallas Drake taking the reins 30 days ago along with assistant coach Taylor Pyatt.

The 16U team was next up with their championship game vs Fox Motors (Michigan) coming immediately after the on ice celebration subsided with the 15’s. The 16U game was a fast and physical game where the Coyotes fought through to a difficult 5-2 win (EN). The team also had an extremely hard road through the League play-off with wins against Victory Honda, Dallas Stars, Anaheim Ducks (OT) and a lone early round loss to St. Louis Jr. Blues. Fox was the final hurdle to the podium and the team was credited to playing a very smart, suffocating and intelligent brand of tough hockey over the weekend.

The CAHA program is extremely proud to have both teams in the Tier 1 Elite League winner’s circle for the first time ever! Congrats to all players, families and coaches.
